Roxbury is in the geographic center of Boston. The MBTA's rapid transit lines, bus lines, and the regional commuter rail all stop in the neighborhood and connect us to the wider metropolitan area. Major highways - the MassPike and I-93 - also pass a stone's throw away. As a result, traveling here from South Station, from Logan Airport, or from an adjacent neighborhood is quick and easy.
Given that Roxbury sits at the crossroads of the city, you may wish to combine visits to our attractions, events, and restaurants with those in neighboring communities.
To the north are the Back Bay and South End. Known for their fine dining and high end shops, both areas are about 15 minutes from Roxbury. Just beyond those neighborhoods are Boston's vibrant Chinatown and dense Downtown. All four communities as well as the Hynes Convention Center, are connected to Roxbury by the Orange Line, Silver Line, and several bus lines.
South of Roxbury is Jamaica Plain. Known for its quirky arts scene, affordable dining options, beautiful scenery, and progressive attitude, JP is an easy walk, bus or subway ride to Roxbury. In addition to sharing the Orange Line and bus lines #39 and #41, the two communities are connected by the Southwest Corridor bike path and lush Franklin Park.
On our east is Dorchester, Boston's largest neighborhood. Similar to Roxbury, Dorchester has a history which dates back to the founding of America. Today, visitors to the area can enjoy the J.F.K Library and take in a performace at the Strand Theater. Both locations are a short drive from Roxbury and are accessible by the #41 bus.
To the west is the Town of Brookline. J.F.K.'s birthplace is located here amid a large, thriving Jewish community. Brookline is a short drive from most of Roxbury and is connected by the #66 bus.
